I always have at least a couple of books on the go. I have a Kindle, and I also use the Borrow Box app on my phone for audio books, so there is always plenty of choice. I also love paper books, but I have started passing them on to friends or family, unless I think I will read them again. Mostly life is too short, and there aren't enough bookshelves in my house. I am at my happiest sitting by the sea, with a book. I thoroughly enjoy reading modern fiction, preferring the works of women authors, although not exclusively.
My favourite book of the year so far has been 'The Paper Palace' by Miranda Cowley Heller. It has been a long time since I have finished a book, and then turned to the beginning, wanting to immediately read it all over again.
My favourite authors include Kate Atkinson, Liane Moriarty, Mary Wesley, Agatha Christie, William Boyd, Jenny Eclair, Maggie O'Farrell, John Irving and Fay Weldon.
