Ghost Town

I (and I am not alone in this) think I must be a witch. Although, without a black cat.  Will a black dog do?   Meet Polly, the loveliest black dog in the land.  But don't let her lick your face as she is still a bit partial to the taste of dog poo, if she can get to it before we do.  Not that we would ever...... Back to the story, I don't like the way this is going.

The return of T....   It was as I foretold, and she is now lying in her bed, wrapped up in her "edgy" ethnic throw, like a giant psychedelic sausage roll, with the contents of her suitcase radiating outwards.  And she is unlikely to surface until early afternoon, unless she gets hungry before then.  I have tried to entice her out with offers of shopping trips or making halloween biscuits but she is too deeply ensconced in her teenage slumber that I think even Santa Claus himself would struggle to rouse her.

As a result, I have had to do the halloween decorations all by myself, and am feeling very Little Red Hen-ish, with the difference being that nobody but me is bothered whether we have them or not.  They will of course eat the pumpkins shaped spiced biscuits and most of the sweets  for the trick or treaters.  But as with Christmas, I am in danger of losing my excuse for going completely over the top, fully immersing the house and everyone in it with decorations and season related food.  To be honest, the kids never really liked it that much, it was always just me.  But now I will have to find another excuse as they are too old and slightly embarrassed by it all.

So we are all halloweened up - I especially love it that the cobwebs blend in with the rest of the decor at this time.  Although having watched Doctor Who last night, with the giant scary spiders, I might have to find the feather duster and get rid of a few.  I am not usually a fan of DW, but I am really enjoying sitting in front of the fire on a Sunday night, watching it and then SCD.  I think I am maybe regressing, and just now enjoying the same things as I did as a child.  I do long for the days before mobile phones, when kids used to sit with their parents in front of the TV in the evenings.  But then the TV was cited as the demon that was ruining family life.  And now look what's happened.

Now, I am off to make some tuna fishcakes with all of the tins of tuna that Mr C has won at Slimming World, so that he can share his good fortune tonight, as the last Monday of the month is a Taster Session.  He is great at coming up with fabulous ideas "I'm going to make something delicious for next week's taster", but not so great at delivering the goods.
