Jo Blogs

Mother of a vegan

Yesterday Mr C complained that he did not enjoy reading my blog  as much, so today I am trying to beautify it in the hope that it will meet his very high blog standards.  I know he prefers books with pictures, so let's see if the same applies to blogs.

I took these photos on my daily walk to meet L from school.  It was a gorgeous day, and you have me to thank for that, as I flipped the weather by today wearing my Autumn wardrobe of jeans and jumper, as opposed to my late Summer wardrobe of yesterday.  One day I will get it right.

T is pleasing me by becoming a little more communicative.  She sent me a text to tell me that she is no longer eating bread because it is against the food regulation.  I asked her who is in charge of the food regulation, but she did not respond.  She prefers to be mysterious and makes it her policy to never answer all of my questions, or only if she feels like it.  I then had a text to say she has also cut out milk and is now "so vegan".  I asked  how she is surviving on just crisps, cakes and Smirnoff Ice, and told her how proud she makes me.  She replied that she is drinking almond milk, and eating salt and vinegar rice cakes and crackers.  And low fat sugar free yoghurts.  But otherwise vegan.

From this exchange I think that she has just been food shopping with friends who have all decided to be vegan, but aren't quite sure what that means.

It has been a good time for hearing from old friends, who I haven't seen for ages.  Loz, who I shared a flat with for two years in Crewe emailed me to say hello, and to tell me that she has bookmarked this page  under the title "Jo blogs", which I am going to steal.

And Caz, another former Cruton and fellow lover of Nina Stibbe's books sent me a lovely message.  Hoping we can meet up soon!

And I did actually receive another message from a new  almost friend.  Nina Stibbe DID reply to my monkey hands tweet!    If you want to know what she said (in the spirit of all good mysteries, I am including a cliffhanger), you will just have to follow me on Twitter.

Finally, before I go to watch the Bake Off, another one of my all time favourite authors, Liane Moriarty is being interviewed on Radio 2 tomorrow afternoon.  If you haven't come across her, she is also worth a punt.  She wrote (amongst other books) Big Little Lies which was a hit on Netflix, starring Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon.
