I am so sad to see the end of the Summer. I love the flowers and the warm air and the feel of sunshine on my skin, Having the doors and windows open, eating and living outside. And spending time by the beach.
But now the special times and celebrations seem to be getting closer together - Spring quickly merges into Summer, which has now slipped swiftly into Autumn. Is it just because I am getting older, that time is passing so much more quickly? And if it is so, I'm not feeling that it is such a bad thing after all, as the things I enjoy are not so far apart. I don't have to wait as long for the next fiesta.
Autumn has been my least favourite season for a long time - in fact for 18 years, because in October 2000, we lost my Mum, who was my most favourite grown up in the whole world (with my Dad a very close second, and John Travolta third).
Today, we took the dogs to Abington Park, and the sky was blue and the sun was shining and the trees were putting on a glorious show. It was so busy, the cafe was full, there were long queues at the ice cream vans, a little boy was learning how to ride his bike with his Dad running along behind him. There were teenagers sitting on a bench murdering songs on their guitars, and a group of little kids jumping up and down because they had spotted squirrels running up the tree. And then we came home and Mr C cooked roast dinner and we watched Dr Who and Strictly Come Dancing with all its sequins and glitter and lovely Aljaz and Pasha with their fabulous smiles. There is so much to enjoy and be grateful for, that I think it might be time for me to start enjoying Autumn again. And with nature providing the best possible filter, I thought it only fair to share some of what we had today.
