Time is tight

I am never on time.  On the one occasion that I was, everyone else was late, and I had to hang around waiting for them, and I thought “I’m never doing this again”.  What a waste of my time.

Today at lunchtime, L sent me a message asking if I could pick her up from school, because she was very tired and it was too cold to walk.  I said ok I would be there at 4 o'clock. (Good intentions of walking every day are slipping as the weather deteriorates!)

And then I got a bit distracted on Pinterest, and learnt how to crochet beanie hats - so if my writing career fails, I now have a back up plan.

And then I lost another hour on my Kindle.  I bought "The Cuckoo's Calling" by Robert Galbraith and I am loving it.  I find myself reading every page at least twice, just wanting to savour it and make it last as long as I can.  It's a long time since I have felt like that about a book - I am well known for speed reading so I can find out what happens at the end.  I'm only 10% in, but I would recommend it so far.  Gotta love JKR!

And then L called me at 4pm.

"Where are you Mum?"

“How far is it from home to where you are?”

“1.1 miles.  Where are YOU?”

“I’m 1.1 miles away.  Coming now.

“Why are you always late?  Why aren’t you here, where you should be?”

"I’m a blogger, not a driver."

The main reason why I am currently so distracted and late for everything  is because I am trying to research literary agents and decide which ones to contact first.  And also to write submissions, which will make my book sound amazing so that they won't possibly be able to resist me.  And this is so hard! And it's so important that I get it right.

And for that reason, I am putting it off and instead reading addictive books which suck me in, and making stupid hats that nobody will ever wear.  I am getting frustrated with myself because I only realise how much I have to do once I sit down at my desk and start work.  And then I look at the clock and realise that it's actually time for bed.  When I worked as a teacher,  I hated being ruled by the clock, but maybe now I have gone too far the other way, and need to be a bit more disciplined.

But it will have to wait until Friday as tomorrow is actually a busy day for me.  I am going out for breakfast with my friend Foxy, and then my youngest great niece is coming to play. I can't wait, but will probably be too exhausted to blog, after chasing round after a little one all afternoon.

Bad news - Mr C did not lose any weight this week and I put half a pound on.  As a consequence, we are not going to Balti King this week.  Very bad news indeed!
